Won’t go back in gearThursday, September 2nd, 2010 After sitting idle for many years, I got my 1970 CT70 running, however I couldn't get it into gear. After draining oil, taking clutch cover off I figured out why. I shifted from 1st to neutral and now its stuck.. won't go into first..only stuck in neutural. I noticed that I did not tighten the nut on the clutch assy..
I am no expert on this.. but the nut wasn't that loose. Any thoughts? Frame stand for ct70Thursday, September 2nd, 2010 I have seen pits of a tall frame stand that bolts to the ct70 frame. Does any one have any info on where or how you bolt it up?

what tires do you guys run ? Current Street Licensed CT70 Owners in Ohio….Wednesday, September 1st, 2010 Hello all! I am very new to this site (5 minutes thus far) and really would like to get a 1970-74 CT70 and use it one the road. I live in Ohio and would like to know what you guys did or what needs to be done to make one of these legal on the roads. I really would like a 1970-1971 CT70 however they dont come with turn signals and it says in Ohio's Law that anything manufactured after 1968 is required to have these. Any help would be VERY appreciated. Thanks and God Bless.
What have I done???Saturday, August 28th, 2010 I was doing my morning craigslist scan looking for some bits for my road bike & saw an ad for this guy. The grainy photo looked just like my neighbor's when I was growing up...the one who never let me ride his bike. Long story short, I asked a friend to check it out & buy it for me b/c I had all-day meetings. Unfortunately, my friend knows less about bikes than me. I freaked when I saw the condition upon delivery b/c I was expecting that shiny circa 1976 trail 70 from my youth. I immediately had buyer's remorse. But my sons love the rusty little CT. And after the initial ride around the house (Note to self: check that the brakes work before riding a new bike), I haven't been able to wipe the grin off my face! I may sell this one & search for a nice one that can entertain us for a while. Too bad I discovered this site after my purchase!!
What do I have? How much is this guy worth? (I know, vague question.) How close am I to having a 'reliable', safe toy? Am I better off searching for something that better suits my limited mechanical skills? (I can change oil & perform basic checks, but I don't do anything significant on my larger bike.) So far, this is what I know, see: -- It starts, runs, & shifts. -- Brakes need attention. No air filter. -- No lights or battery or ignition switch. There's a toggle switch rigged. -- Gaiters are rotted through. Tires are starting to crack. Fork springs rusty. -- Various parts (rear rim) are painted. Though the frame/decals appear original. -- Seat splitting started. -- Left side peg & stand have surface rust, whatever that is. We'll have fun whether we stick with this one or trade up. Thanks in advance. I'm curious what it's worth...i was thinking of using it for trade if it's a desirable piece. Tire QuestionThursday, August 26th, 2010 My 1970 CT70 KO has Nitto tires on it. So did the identical bike I had as a kid. Everything I've read so far leads me to believe that in the US you all had Bridgstone Trail Wings on yours. The Nitto's have a fairly agressive off road short knobby tread that I rather like. Has anybody got the story on tires?
1980CT70 questionThursday, August 26th, 2010 Hi all i have a 1980ct70 and theres a black wire coming from the coil pack where does this wire go to.also might be a dumb ? but where is the points on this bike??? thanks steve
DAX ????’sWednesday, August 25th, 2010 I picked up a DAX today....this kinda luck never happens to me.
Dude's rollin by and sees the mini's in my garage...starts choppin it up and says i got a red one like that in my garage but it doesnt run...i said you wanna sell it...he said yah, i need cash....i followed him home...he opens up the garage and starts throwin boxes...underneath was this DAX....gave the guy some cash and loaded it up....got it home and tore the carb apart and gave it the ol 1-2....took out the tank cleaned it...put in some gas and it fired right up....this thing hauls ass for a 70....1500 miles and in great original shape....it's gonna clean up nice. Whats the deal with the shift patern...seems like 1 up 2 down ? Did these DAX models have a different cam...why is it so strong ? Why did they lower the front fender ? Front fender has a white stripe on the tip...is that stock ? Any info on these will be appreciated :77: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
