Disc brakes with stock forks and hubs

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
Hi guys

Was wondering if anyone had any details on how to install front disc brakes onto stock ct70/chaly forks and hubs?

I've seen alot of thailand bikes running this setup but cant seem to find on this forum on anywhere on the net on how they do it properly.

I understand that an adaptor needs to be made for the front forks and hub to adapt the disc and caliper but cant find any detailed images or info on how to do so.

Anyone know more about this or have some good pictures which shows how its done?? Or maybe even a link to someone that might sell these adaptors??

Low Budget Performance Upgrades

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
I have a 1973 Honda CT70. A few years ago, I over revved it and bent both valves. While I had it apart replacing the valves, I decided I would add a few upgrades to the head, including a bearing race cam and heavy duty valve springs. I also went with a thin copper head gasket (.36 mm thick) thinking that would help on compression ratio.

Now, after adding the new cam, I think the carburetor needs to be rejetted. I have adjusted the main jet all the way in, and it still is running way too lean. Since I put the larger cam in there, I was wondering if I would see much of a performance difference if I went with a 20mm carb, larger manifold, and after market air filter. Dratv has a kit for $80, that I am considering if this will make a noticable difference. Please give me your opinions.

Brake Pedal

Sunday, August 29th, 2010
Okay so the end is in sight with my ct70 build. This is basically my first project and I impressed myself with what I am capable of. I have been running into a few bumps, but I think I am getting close to finishing.

One thing I noticed is that when I installed my 120cc Lifan with the pegmount that came on it, the brake lever hits the peg mount and the brake lever cannot come up all the way (or even half, really). Basically, I wanted to know if anyone could recommend a brake pedal they have used on a CT70 with a china motor/peg mount that clears well and has about the same end position.

I don't want a fancy adjustable lever or anything too crazy. just something that will clear the peg mount.

Z50/Monkey Exhaust Fit CT70?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010
Didnt want to start a whole thread for this but will it? Im sure the mounting bracket will be different but otherwise should it bolt on fine without hitting or getting in the way of anything? Im talking about aftermarket z50 exhausts. Ex. An Over exhaust or something similar with low sweeping pipe.

Its Done! Finally!

Newbie old guy with questions

Monday, August 23rd, 2010
I've got a 1972 CT70 HK1. I'm considering a 88cc kit, and have some questions.

I have read all 27 pages of the mods thread and it appears that the kits from TB get the highest reccomendations.

My plan is to get the 88cc kit with head and carb from TB, along with the high volume oil pump.

Questions:
1) I want to add beefed up clutch springs- Where do I get them?

2) My fuel on/off valve is on the stock carb. Should I get the new one from TB and where do I mount it?

3) Will I be able to use my stock throttle and cable?

4) Will I be able to retain the stock skid plate and support rods?

5) I would like to mantain the stock appearance as much as possible; I want to keep my stock exhaust and would like some specific instructions to open it up enough to make use of the extra power from the TB kit. Will someone help me out?

Tune me up please, Thanks!

4 speed stator original or new

Sunday, August 22nd, 2010
I've got an H motor that is missing the coils and flywheel. Actually it's a basket case bike missing a few parts. Anyway, if I went with the upgrade, do the 6V CDI kits put out enough power to brighten the lights? If not, which 12V is the one to go with? Plug and play, and only switch bulbs, or go all the way? I want to make the right decision the first time.
With the resources available here, how does a guy screw up?

Has anyone changed over to tapered fork bearings and which kit is best?

Friday, August 20th, 2010
I was thinking of changing out the steering ball bearings for the tapered type.

How beneficial is the mod and which kit is best, the one from Dr ATV ("All Balls" brand with seals) or the one from CHP?

What else would I need to complete this mod besides the bearings and races? The "All Balls" DrATV set comes with the seals and I am not sure if the CHP one does.

Besides the seals that come with the DrATV set would I also need the "Blue" colored dust seal that they sell?

Any tips about performing this mod would be most grateful! :39:

Thanks!
