New to the Hobby/BusinessMonday, March 8th, 2010 I just got into this hobby/business a year ago. It's been a slow start, but I Just finished my first Z50 K1. I have decided to do 4 bikes (1-Z50 K2, 1-CT70 KO and 2-CT70H KO's) at one time this go around. I am going to do all 4 engines first. Here are a few pic's of the first, all most complete engine and three of the 4 bikes I am working on. I will try to keep an updated post/pictures of my progress. I am sure it will take the better part of a year for me to complete them all.
Anyone have any extra SL or XL70 parts?Monday, March 8th, 2010 Hello everyone! A couple weeks ago I picked up a 73 xl70 that i'm going to put together for a rider this summer. I am looking for these parts if anyone may have these parts for sale.
fuel tank kickstand with bolt and spring throttle assembly. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Andy Topaz HK0 RestoMonday, March 8th, 2010 This will be a really slow build as I want to ride it for a while before I go all out maybe, plus I got to get rid of some other junk first. I gave it a bath yesterday looks a little better I need to really scrub it in some spots. I will be ordering a carb kit and a air cleaner sometime this week. I am pretty sure its been without a cleaner for 20 years or better so I am thinking the carb needs a real good cleaning. The fuel lines will be changed Any part thats supposed to be a color that it not or thats rusty or faded will be media blasted and painted for now and powder coated later. I really can't decide what I want to do with all the chrome since most of it is rusted and pitted. Like I said earlier I want to ride this thing and not worry to much hurting anything I just spent good money on getting rechromed or bought new. Anyway enough of that for now. Here are some pics before the bath I will have to get some after bath one later today. I have posted thesse pics in another thread but I figured I would start one just for the resurrection.
![]() ![]() ![]() PS One of the knobs that hold the handle bars in place broke off inside the bar itself. I tried to use an ez out but it broke to. So do I have an option besides a drilling it out and using a heli-coil? Chris First Ride 2010 - PIC - ChicagoMonday, March 8th, 2010 Well, after bringing it back to life all winter, the weather finally came around and I took my CT70 out.
TODAY: ![]() As I bought it around Thanksgiving: ![]() Replaced the rear fender, replaced the handlebar clamp (handlebars held on by a chain when I bought it), added a headlight, speedo, taillight, rewired it, painted the rims, new seat, fixed rusted out header and painted exhaust, used a torch to straighten the handlebars, rebuilt the carb and did all the typical tuneup stuff... I guess I did more than I realized! Felt great to finally get it out on the road. -Adam First Ride 2010 - PIC - ChicagoMonday, March 8th, 2010 Well, after bringing it back to life all winter, the weather finally came around and I took my CT70 out.

I have done a complete tear down of the engines and when I put the oil pump gears cover on, the pump will not turn. I fiddled with the first engine long enough that it finally started turning freely, I am not sure what I did to make it work. It seems to be very straight forward as to how it is installed, but obviously I am doing something wrong.
Is there a specific color to paint the Rims?Sunday, March 7th, 2010 Huy Sports fans, I noticed a lot of you have painted and restored your stock rims. After buying aftermarket rims that looked great and preformed horribly, I've decide to restore my stock wheels. Whats the name of the color Honda used for the 1970 KO?? On my Mustang they use a lot of Gun Metal Gray, but a vintage Ct? Any tried and true method would be appreciated.
Also is it easy to split the rims to get the tire off? Never tried that and I want to save money and dont want to pay the motorcycle shop to remove my tires. Thanks! :pop2: Is this a 72 HK or HK1?Sunday, March 7th, 2010 Is there any way to tell from this photo if this is the 1972 3-speed HK model or the 4-speed HK1?
Rear shock coversSunday, March 7th, 2010 I need 2 rear shock covers for my '70 CT-70H that are in great shape. They will be painted, so any color right now will do. But if they are emerald green even better. My original covers have numerous dents and are not good enough to be painted.
cam chain questionSunday, March 7th, 2010 I installed the new cam chain kit yesterday I got off ebay, cheap, and now the motor turns hard by hand. The spark plug is out, the chain tension is set properly, I can turn it with the flywheel but it's way harder to turn than before. Is this normal for a new chain to be so tight? will it loosen up when I get the motor up and running? anybody install a new chain and gear set before and had the same concerns?
thanks, scott |
