RySem’s Restomod BuildMonday, January 5th, 2009 I have officially begun making progress on my restomod build. I am using a 71 CT70H frame as my basis (thank you to VWbusman for the frame!). It was nasty to start out. Had about 7 layers of various spray paint on it...sprayed right over the original decals. Was an original candy blue green bike. Anyways, you can see some before and after pics of the frame. I just bead blasted it today. I will be priming it with etching primer and then painting it with Daytona Yellow single stage urethane. I picked up a set of carbon-look K0 decals and side badges from boosted1 and they look pretty sweet. I will be adapting a YSR50 race front end to the the frame and will be using some sort of standard motorcycle or BMX type bars. For engine I will be using a TRX70 lower end as the base. It will be a 4spd automatic with 12V CDI and some sort of stroker and big bore setup. I have a trailbuddy thumper exhaust on the way courtesy of HymieP (thanks again Jamie!). That is my plan so far. For now here are the frame pics before and after sandblasting.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() New K0 Fork LegsSunday, January 4th, 2009 My father and I are in the business of making reproduction parts for AMC and Rambler cars. If you want, check out my website at AMXMGS Resto Parts - Parts for AMC AMX Javelin Gremlin Hornet Spirit Concord Rambler American Rebel Matador Eagle Pacer. As I was looking at my CT70 stuff I had a thought. I am thinking we will probably start making lower fork legs for CT70 K0 and Z50 applications out of mirror finish stainless steel. No rust and no pits to deal with at all. I have to do a little research as to what it will cost but will most likely be a kit with fork legs and new plastic bushings. I need to know if it would be worth my while designing and building all of the tooling and whatnot to make these, so I would like to hear some feedback as to who might be interested in a set. Like I said, I can't give a set price yet but I'm thinking they will be somewhere between $100-$200 for a complete setup. Here is a similar type product we make for the AMCs so you can see the type of quality. 68-74 AMX/Javelin Fender Support Rods - Stainless - $100.00 : AMXMGS Resto Parts, Parts for AMC Rambler AMX Javelin Gremlin Hornet SC/Rambler American Rebel Machine SC/360 Spirit Rogue Matador Eagle Matador Ambassador Marlin
So what I need is a tally of who would most likely buy a set and how many you would buy. New bars and grips install. . how hard is it?Saturday, January 3rd, 2009 Looking for some tips on changing my bars out for new ones. I dont have a manual and was hoping someone could share with me how to remove the light switch and the horn without breaking them. Also the thottle is a mystery at this point. Thanks for any advice.
Help with Ct70K3Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 I have been looking at fiche for my 1974 CT70K3.
And it shows that beyond frame number 2320002 It uses a different handle bar then the prior frame numbers. My bike didn't have a rear brake lever on the left handle bar, but it has the perch for one on it. Does anyone know if either I need a different handle bar or did some bikes come with the perch on the handlebar but no brake lever or cable attached from the factory? Thanks Removing stickers on new paint jobTuesday, December 30th, 2008 Ok, here's a dumb*** for you. Stickers are crooked and off center. Has anyone removed stickers after they've been on awhile? What's the easiest and any tricks of the trade? I can't mess up the paint, so what's an idiot to do? I will be applying new ones if and when I can get these off. HELP!:20:

The bike is titled and comes with original owners manual and purchase receipt. Besides some carburetor adjustments I need to make the bike runs great. On the looks side, the bike is a little weathered, but otherwise in great shape. It has the original Nitto tires (rear one is 70% used up, but front is in decent shape). All of the bolts, nuts etc. are original and have not been worked on (no wrench scuff marks at all). I just polished some of the chrome and paint and the bike looks really come back to life.
The question for you guys is. How rare is the 1975 K4 Mighty Green? I have not seen any specific info or pictures of a bike like this one on this forum or on E-bay. I am debating on whether to keep it all of it original, but cleaned-up/polished or doing a full paint and re-chrome restoration. Is it worth the time and effort of a full restoration or should I just do a ground up clean/polish job? Any thoughts? Your insight would be appreciated. Erchur Gear shifter shaft seal leakingThursday, December 25th, 2008 My gear shifter shaft seal leaking oil when the engine is cold. Can this seal be changed externally. I hope I don't have to split the case to get to it. Can a motor expert help me out? Merry Christmas!
Help with shocksMonday, December 22nd, 2008 I just recently purchased a 1983 Honda CT70 which to my surprise was in pretty good shape. Anyway, I've started my restoration when I noticed that the pipe was pushed into the right rear shock. The shock is bent and it appears both shocks are pretty much pooched! Question: What shocks do you guys recommend to replace the stock ones. I am about 230lbs. I realize the stock shocks are too soft so I'm looking for an improvement.
3sp vs 4spd frame differencesSunday, December 21st, 2008 Hi
I'm in the middle of restoring my 69 KO. It's an addicting hobby, hence my question. I have a line on a 70 4spd engine as well as a 70 3spd frame and was wondering if there are any difference between a 3spd and 4sp frame that I'm not aware of? Excuse my ignorance as I'm kind of new to the hobby. Thanks Frank |
